5 Sparks to Fuel Your Week: The Gift of Time

Sometimes the most meaningful gifts do not arrive wrapped in bows or celebrated with fanfare. They show up quietly, disguised as unexpected moments. This past weekend, when I couldn't join my husband on a trip abroad, I found myself with something far more valuable than I initially realized: time. What began as a simple weekend of household chores turned into a reminder of how joy, gratitude, and a sense of accomplishment can emerge when we embrace time with intention.
Spark #1 - Quote of the Week
Time is rarely given, but when it is, it can become the most meaningful gift; turning even the smallest tasks into joy."– Rebecca Baybayan
Spark #2 - Thought for the Week
This past weekend, I had an unexpected gift: time. My husband was headed to London, but the flight was too full for me to join. Instead, I found myself at home with two full days to tackle household chores that had piled up after weeks of busy family activities.
At first, it felt like "fall cleaning" in spring, but as I moved through each task, I realized something surprising. I wasn’t frustrated by a weekend consumed with chores, I felt joy. Joy in creating order (my Structural preference was coming through. Joy in catching up. Joy in the sense of accomplishment that came with clearing space in both my home and my mind.
Sometimes, we don’t need grand adventures to feel fulfilled. Sometimes, the gift of time itself is enough to bring joy and renewal.
Spark #3 - Leadership Resource Spotlight
Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown
This book reminds me that not everything is essential. When we learn to value time as a precious resource and focus only on what truly matters, we create space for clarity and fulfillment. Essentialism encourages leaders (and all of us) to eliminate the non-essential so we can pour energy into what brings meaning and impact.

Spark #4 - Wanderlust Wisdom
Travel often reminds me of the importance of time. When I trek or explore new cultures, I notice how different societies treat time, not as something to race against, but as something to savor.
This weekend at home gave me that same reminder: adventure doesn’t always mean boarding a plane. Sometimes, it means being present with what’s right in front of you. Time spent intentionally, whether exploring Machu Picchu or folding laundry, can be equally life-giving when aligned with gratitude and presence.
Spark #5 - Take Action
This week, notice where time shows up as a pleasant surprise. Ask yourself:
1️⃣ What can I let go of from my schedule to create more space?
2️⃣ What small tasks could bring joy if I slowed down to do them fully?
3️⃣ Where in my life can I treat time not as a burden, but as a pleasant surprise?
Time will always feel scarce, but when it shows up, choose to receive it fully.
Until next time...keep growing, keep leading, and embrace the moments time gives you.
