Welcome to 5 Sparks to Fuel Your Week—my blog designed to ignite your thinking and inspire action. Every week, I’ll be sharing five powerful “Sparks” to help you grow personally, professionally, and as a leader. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your leadership skills, strengthen your team, or unlock new potential in your life, these sparks will serve as quick yet impactful reflections to guide your journey.

Spark #1 - Quote of the Week

"The Earth is what we all have in common." – Wendell Berry

Spark #2 - Thought for the Week

Today is Earth Day—a reminder that we are all stewards of the same planet. As leaders, adventurers, and humans striving to live together, Earth Day invites us to reconnect with the natural world and consider the legacy we leave behind.

My values of kindness and adventure are front and center today. Kindness reminds me to tread lightly, to respect the spaces we explore, and to care for the people and communities connected to those spaces. Adventure, for me, isn’t just about exciting moments—it’s about immersing myself in the beauty and vastness of the world we share.

As I prepare for my upcoming solo trek to Machu Picchu, I’m deeply aware of the privilege and responsibility of experiencing such sacred landscapes. Earth Day is a moment to pause, appreciate, and ask ourselves: How can I honor the earth in my everyday choices and actions?

Spark #3 - Leadership Resource Spotlight

Start With Why by Simon Sinek still holds strong here. On Earth Day, it’s a great reminder to align our actions—both personal and professional—with a deeper purpose. Whether you're leading a team, planning a trip, or making choices about sustainability, knowing your why will help guide intentional decisions that respect the planet and others.

Spark #4 - Wanderlust Wisdom

Travel connects us to the earth in ways no classroom ever could. Whether you're standing on a mountain trail, walking through a quiet forest, or gazing at a star-filled sky, you're reminded of your place in something much larger. For me, travel is a way to listen to the world—to its rhythms, cultures, ecosystems, and stories.

My upcoming trip to Machu Picchu brings all my values together: Adventure in exploring new terrain, Curiosity in learning about Incan history and culture, Dependability in showing up prepared, Excellence in how I plan and execute, and Kindness in how I show respect to people and planet along the way.

This Earth Day, reflect on how your travel—or even your daily walks—can be a practice of presence, gratitude, and stewardship.

Spark #5 - Take Action

Let’s celebrate Earth Day with mindful action:

🌱 Small changes, big impact: Pick one sustainable habit to adopt this week—maybe it's reducing plastic use, eating more plant-based meals, or supporting local farms.

🗺️ Plan an earth-connected adventure: Whether it’s a hike, a visit to a local garden, or a walk around your neighborhood, go outside and reconnect.

💬 Share your why: Talk to a friend or teammate about why Earth Day matters to you. When we share our purpose, we amplify our impact.

Let your values lead you toward a future that’s kind to the planet and full of meaningful adventure.

Until Next Time. Keep Growing, Keep Leading
